Ainda são muito pequenas, parece impossivel que daqui vão sair alfaces, mas começaram a germinar ontem. O ano passado não tive muita sorte com as alfaces, grelaram demasiado cedo e lá para Maio já não havia alfaces comestiveis na horta. Este ano encomendei sementes de variedades resistentes ao calor (ainda não chegaram) para ver se consigo comer saladas no Verão.
It's hard to believe that these little seedlings will grow into lettuces in my veg garden. Last year lettuce didn't grow very well in my garden. They bolted too soon and by may I had no edible lettuce left. This year when ordering seeds I choose the heat resistant varieties. Hopefully I'll be eating salad all summer long.

Estas são "Lolo rosso" a variedade que melhor cresceu o ano passado. Além disso são uma das alfaces mais bonitas que conheço, com as suas folhas vermelhas e frisadas. Um pouco mais amargas que as "maravilha das 4 estações", é certo, mas muito boas mesmo assim.
These are "Lolo rosso", the variety that grew best last year. They are one of the most beautiful lettuces to grow in the veg garden, and that itself is reason enough to grow them again this year.
