Vamos passear? /Shall we go for a walk?

Today I'm taking you to Fonte da Benémola. This is a protected area in which we will find a wide variety of plants, some of them rare in other areas of the Algarve. This will be a 5 km riverside walk along Ribeira da Penalva.

A área é rica em flora mediterranica, nomeadamente cistus, alecrim, rosmaninho, tomilho. Ao caminharmos podemos ouvir as aves ao nosso redor.

The area is very rich in mediterranean flora, namely cistus, rosemaries, lavenders, thyme. We can ear the birds as we walk.

As we get near the creek, we will stst finding a few houses. People still live in some of them, but others were long a go abandoned.

Vegetation becomes greener and luxurious, you can fill the dampness in the air. Suddenly you start earing water, then you can see it. We have arrived. It's so damp, there is so much water and the vegetation is so green that it feels like you are in some other place, not in the Algarve.

At this time of year there are still many plants that are not blooming, but we still managed to find a lot of wild flowers.

E claro que encontramos mais umas orquideas.

And of course, some more orchids.

Espero q tenham gostado tanto quanto eu.

And another walk trough the Algarve's countryside get to an end. Hope you have enjoyed it as much as I did.

Thank you for taking us on your walk. Those orchids are just incredible. All of the wildflowers are so appreciated, especially this time year. I would love to have one of those small stone buildings on our property. They are so charming.
