I've just found this quiz that will helps us measure our ecological footprint. After answering to all questions I realized there are still some changes to be done in my live if I want it to be sustainable. I mean...we would need 1,22 planets if everyone lived like me....

I am impressed! We would need 3.36 earths. I think our number has to do with our house size/lot. Great job to you!

A minha é maior que a tua, 1.87, temos que melhorar ;)

I came out at 2.09 earths, and honestly I have to question the way this was calculated.

I posted several times recently about the relationship to eating meat and greenhouse gases. In particular, the worlds production of meat accounts for 18% of the worlds greenhouse gasses, the single largest source.

It's true, listing my self as vegetarian and only buying local, organic and sustainable foods as well as growing much of my own gave me a low 'food footprint' (whatever this means), but I don't think it's true that my greenhouse gas emissions are higher than my fellow countrymen.

I think if you looked into whoever is sponsoring this quiz, you would find corporate interests. Certainly, I think a quiz like this should offer more information on the way they came up with it's conclusions, like publish their algorythms and sources, and allow public debate on them.

This is a little better than a similar quiz I took a few months ago, and asked better questions, but I really don't think it's right.

Thanks for this, gintoino. I need 1.01 earths! So some improvement needed. I think never flying and buying locally are my most important contributions to the planet. I do eat meat, but not beef which is the meat which is most responsible for carbon emissions. It's not realistic to expect everyone to be vegan - dairy farming is as bad as beef farming and few people could cut out cheese.
I know it's not easy for everyone but I think that reducing flying is the most important single improvement people in developed can make - after all the majority of the earth's population CAN NEVER fly and the poorest are the ones who suffer from the effects of the holidays of the rich.
Thanks for giving us all something to think about - water saving in the house and insulation are my focus for improvement now.

Don't feel bad...I took one of those quizzes once, and my carbon footprint was like Godzilla! We'd need 17 planets to keep ME going....sheesh!
