O caracol/ Snail

I found this snail wondering around my vegetable garden this morning. I found it so beautiful that I couldn't give him the same tragical faith of hundreds of snails before him. (lets just say it involves my shoe and a sound of breaking shell)

So I took him with me and released him during my morning walk with the dogs.

It was the most beautiful snail ever.

Hi Gintoino, yes that beautiful snail deserves to live. While many snails here have an accidental crunchy death, when found on the plants, they get tossed over the fence. They really enjoy the flight! ;->

Frances, I used to have the "fly away aproache" but I think they always came back... ;-)

I agree that your snails have beautiful shells. The snails in my part of the world are dull.

lisa, snails shells usually have markings around here, but this one was perfect. I just couldn't crush it.

Tadinho do caracoli...

(lá venho eu meter a colherada)...

That is one gorgeous snail! Don't let the rest of them hear that good looks may save them, or they'll all try it! ;-)

Desculpa a intromissão!

Get yourself some ducks, Gintoino - they will love the snails!

Really pleased for you that your veggies and fruits are thriving. You're more advanced than here with the apricots. Ours are still very hard.

lisa, I thought about that. If I start seeing litle makeup sets scatered all arround my garden I will be suspicious the word is out ;-)

Obrigado!

ladyluz, I hadn't think about ducks, but I intend to get some chickens.

Pois é Gintoino. Eu sou a eterna protectora do feio e do bonito.

Yes, that snail is beautiful - the brown snails in my garden are not.

Good looks will get you far in life--at least they may postpone your death, crunchy or otherwise, if you are a snail! That is one gorgeous snail. I can't believe I just said that. We're currently using the "fly, snail, fly" method but we aim to throw them over the fence whenever there is a vehicle coming down the hill. I know, I know, their deaths are still on our conscience--but I do not lose much sleep over this--they are snails! The slugs meet the same death except they are not so "crunchy". --Curmudgeon

katarina, yes, we do have a lot of stripy snails around here but this one was specially beautiful. Lucky him...

www, somehow I always think that if I "fly them away" they will come back to munch on my cabbages.

It would be nice to keep that shell, but first drop the snail in brine...
